SAMA DEUK YAAY // MY MOTHERS LAND is an autobiographical project in which Mouminatou explores her memories of leaving Senegal as a child and making a new home in America. She uses bright colors and symbolic imagery to evoke girlhood and center childlike perspectives of migration, home-making, and the comfort of the natural environment across continents. Each memory has a shadow that has begun to unmask as she shifts into adulthood.
